FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — Agnes Spaulding, 96, formerly of Maine, passed away Thursday, May 21, in Fuquay-Varina, N.C., where she resided for the past 15 years.
She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 17, 1919, the daughter of Paul and Eva Couture. She attended schools in Lewiston and later worked for Bates College Housekeeping Services for 15 years. She also sewed moccasins for several years.
Agnes loved the ocean, where she would collect seashells to make crafts for family and friends.
She also enjoyed being outside, whether it was painting or doing other odd jobs around the house.
Agnes was the widow of John S. Spaulding.
She is survived by her daughters, Lucille Moody, Barbara Kolkman and Shirley Wheeler, all of North Carolina; and her sons, Richard and wife, Gail, of Lisbon, Raymond of Lisbon, and David and wife, Nancy, of South Paris. She also leaves her 20 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and 30 great-great-grandchildren.
