Partridge & Farris have taken over the agency for the Overland automobile for this district and are now making a large display of these tested cars at their show rooms, 88 Bates street. Just at this time they are making a feature display of the now Model 83 which sells for $750. This is a beautiful car and the reputation of the Overlands is sufficient to guarantee its quality.
50 years ago, 1965
Lewiston Police Captain John Harkins received a report of an unusual incident today. The department was notified of a broken window at the Lewiston Gas Light Company, 47 Ash St. Officer Laurent E. Veilleux recalled seeing ling a man cutting the lawn at the Ash Street branch of the Post Office, and wondered if the piece of metal had come from the rotary mower used on the job. Sure enough, the object came from the cutting blade. There was no estimate of damage to the window, “but what if a person happened to be in the line of flight of that piece of metal?” he asked.
25 years ago, 1990
A proposal from Mid-Maine Waste Action Corp. on how the City of Auburn should deal with waste recycling and Saturday drop-off of residential waste, will be presented tonight to the City Council. Councilors also will receive a report from Public Works Director Robert F. Belz suggesting acceptance of the MMWAC proposal even though it is “short on specifics.”
