Somebody, it is said, is breaking the rules of the Rum Game as played in Lewiston. A few arrests continue each day and the respondents appear in the municipal court, are charged with illegal possession, waive reading of warrant and hearing, and with as little time as possible arrange for the usual sureties of $200. It is rumored that the activity of the deputy sheriffs can be traced to an infringement of the rules which requires closing every night in the week at ten o’clock. There is an effort on the part of the administration to drive some of the shops out of business. Also, it is said, there are too many for any profit and those who are adhering to the rules are getting trimmed as the practice of drinking late is coming into vogue in Lewiston, according to statistics carefully compiled by a bar-keep.

A sure sign that the summer season is near is the fact that the Montagnard Brass Band of Lewiston will present the first of its 1965 summer concerts in Kennedy Park Sunday night. Director Robert Rabassa said the concerts will run like last year, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. A total of 10 concerts are held each year under the sponsorship of the city of Lewiston and the Music Performance Trust Fund of the Recording Industries of the American Federation of Musicians.
