A new study that showed the positive impact on health and environment was printed in the Sun Journal on May 6. The study found that carbon dioxide emissions were reduced by some 490,000 tons in 2013. Other benefits were from reduced sulfur dioxide by 201 tons and nitrogen oxide by 123 tons, both of which contribute to acid rain that affects water supplies.

Supporters of wind power include the American Lung Association, Sierra Club Maine chapter and Maine Renewable Energy Association, to name a few.

The study provides evidence of health benefits with clean, renewable energy for Maine families. The Sun Journal article supplied valuable information for Maine people dealing with future wind projects.

The anti-wind people have used scare tactics but no true facts.

On June 9, Dixfield voters will have the opportunity to vote “no” on the negative wind ordinance.
