As summer weather begins to roll in, it becomes a prime time for door-to-door scammers offering a “free security inspection”.
Burglaries tend to happen more frequently during the summer months, allowing these fraudsters to show up at your door using scare tactics to pressure you into signing up for an alarm system. Unless you initiated the sales call, never let anyone into your house and tell them to leave immediately if you feel threatened.
Be a fraud fighter! If you can spot a scam, you can stop a scam.
Contact local law enforcement or the AARP Fraud Watch Network at www.aarp.org/fraudwatchnetwork or 1-877-908-3360 to report a scam or for more information on scam and fraud prevention.
