OXFORD — The American Red Cross with Anderson Staples American Legion Post 112 will hold a blood drive on Monday, June 22, from noon to 6 p.m. at the legion’s headquarters, 169 King St.
The American Red Cross asks eligible donors to help ensure blood is available for patients leading up to the busy summer vacation season ahead.
Donors of all blood types – especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative – are needed to help ensure blood is available for patients.
Although walk-ins are accepted, to save time, the Red Cross suggests making an appointment at 1-800-RED CROSS..
Eligible donors will have two forms of ID, be 17 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and are generally in good health.
A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
