1914 – 2015

WEST PARIS — Priscilla Simmonds, 101, of Spring Avenue in Rumford, passed away on Tuesday June 23, at Ledgeview Living Center in West Paris. She was fortunate to remain in the comfort of her own home until the last week of her life.

Priscilla lived a long and happy life. She will be remembered by her family as a gentle, caring wife, mother and nana.

She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for others; she worked as a head cook for the Virginia School Hot Lunch Program when it opened in 1954.

Priscilla was crafty and enjoyed sewing items for the craft tables at the many fairs over the years. She decorated her home for every holiday.

Surviving are her children, Faylene Turnbull and husband, John, of Rumford, and Donald Simmonds and companion, Betty Brette, of Columbia, Conn.; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Gallant of Rumford, and Mary Gallant of Rumford; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Henry Simmonds; a sister, Dorothy Holmquist; two brothers, Edward Gallant and Arthur Gallant; and one grandchild.
