LEWISTON – Nominations for the 2015 Amanda Dempsey Award will be accepted through Friday, Aug. 14, at dempseychallenge.org. The award, named in memory of Amanda Dempsey, is presented each year to a cancer survivor who has a passion for helping others with cancer.

The recipient will lead the Amgen Breakaway from Cancer Survivor Walk along with Patrick Dempsey and his family on Saturday, Oct. 17, in Simard-Payne Park and will also be honored at the Champions for Hope Celebration that same evening.

The criteria for nominees are as follows:

• Individual is a cancer survivor

• Individual demonstrates passion for helping others diagnosed with cancer

• Individual inspires others by their demonstrated passion

• Individual lives and/or helps others in the state of Maine.

Past winners include Nel Bernard (2014), Hailey Sontag (2013), Kristen Short (2012), Laura Davis (2011) and Scott Thomas (2010).
