LEWISTON — The Peasant Pantry Cafe at the Center for Wisdom’s Women will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 16. Fassolakia Yiahni, a Greek green bean and potato stew in tomato sauce, will be served.
The Peasant Pantry Cafe picks a dish from a different country that is cheap, healthy and easy to prepare and serves it family-style at the monthly gathering.
The event is a partnership between St. Mary’s Nutrition Center and the women’s center. Paul Drowns, food educator at the nutrition center, is the cooking coach for the team.
The Center for Wisdom’s Women has also announced that there will be no Peasant Pantry Cafe in August. It will resume in September.
There is no charge for the meal, although donations are accepted. Proceeds are shared among the women who plan, prepare and serve the meal.
