1931 – 2015
NORWAY — Frances “Marie” Dyke, 84, of Swansea, S.C., and a lifelong resident of Norway, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, at Stephens Memorial Hospital with her daughters at her side.
Marie was born in South Paris on April 17, 1931, a daughter of George E. and Mamie M. (Cummings) Currier Sr. She attended Norway schools and Norway High School. For many years, Marie worked at Francine Shoe in Norway.
She was a former member of the Norway Baptist Church and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and doing crossword puzzles. She loved watching the birds and other wildlife from the porch of her daughter Brenda’s home in North Norway, and from the back porch of her daughter Barbara’s home in Swansea, S.C. She also enjoyed local country music bands, going to estate auctions, going out to eat and taking long rides in the country, watching for wildlife.
Marie is predeceased by her husband, Howard L. Dyke Jr; a son, Robert F. Heath, in 1969; a brother, George E. Currier Jr., in 2006; and a sister, Virginia Libby, in 1990.
Surviving are her two daughters, Barbara L. Heath of Swansea, S.C., and Brenda Mowatt of North Norway; a brother, Glenn R. Currier of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a grandson, Robert Mowatt and his wife, Jaime, of Norway; two great-grandsons, Alexander and Lukas Mowatt of Norway; and some very special people in her life, Elaine Milford of Swansea, S.C., Betty Davis of Norway, and her sister-in-law, Hilda Currier of West Paris.
