1947 – 2015

YORK — Alphonse W. Charron, 68, of 4 Egret Circle, died on Wednesday, July 15, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H.

He was born on April 6, 1947, in Lewiston, a son of the late William A. and Anita (Cormier) Charron.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joan Cloutier Charron; two sons, Steven A. Charron and his wife, Dr. Julie Greene-Charron, of Kingston, N.H., and Joel O. Charron and his wife, Cyndi Vickery Charron, and their son, Croix Charron of Greenland, N.H.; a daughter, Jennifer L. Charron and her husband, Sean Mundy, of Southport, N.C.; three brothers, Daniel Charron and his wife, Sue, of Lewiston, Marc Charron and his wife, Terry, of Greene, and Michael Charron and his wife, Frieda, of Bethel.

He was predeceased by his sister, Suzan Gagnon.

Al attended Lewiston schools and was a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston, Class of 1970. He was one of the owners of Family Pharmacy in York and Kittery until 1989. He then became a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, attaining the rank of commander before returning to York in 1998. Other positions he held were performing audits for Medicaid fraud and working locally as a pharmacist until 2010.

He was a past member of the Cape Neddick Country Club, the York Lions Club, and the St. Aspinquid’s Masonic Lodge in York.

Al was a loving father and devoted husband who loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, golfing and coaching Little League baseball when his sons were young.
