Roles are for
‘Wait Until Dark’

LEWISTON — The Public Theatre, a Professional Equity Theatre in Lewiston is seeking two nonunion actors for roles in their upcoming production of Wait Until Dark.

They are looking for a talented 12-to 14-year-old girl for the role of Gloria, an intelligent, lonely and somewhat neglected girl from a troubled family, who desperately wants to belong, yet often rebelliously acts out to get attention.

They are also seeking a male actor in his 30s to play the role of Sam, a well intentioned husband determined not to coddle his blind wife by challenging her to be more independent. Please note that this play is set in the 1940s, so a certain style and sensibility is required.

Contract dates are Sept. 28 – Oct 25. Performance dates are Oct. 16 – 25. There may be some morning student matinee performances. Rehearsals are generally 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday; however, these roles will have some flexibility in their rehearsal schedule. All roles are salaried. Some school will probably need to be missed for the young actress.

This is a great opportunity for a local young actress and male actor. Auditions will be held by appointment only in late August.

Anyone interested in being considered for these roles, please send a picture and resume ASAP and the theater will make contact to set up an audition appointment if  interested.

Mail or email picture and resume to: The Public Theatre, 31 Maple St., Lewiston, Maine, 04240 or email it to info@thepublictheatre.org. FMI: call 207 782-2211.
