LEWISTON — Relationship fundraising is cost effective, the return is high, and the results can be immediate. But for it to work, it must be understood why people give money.

Just as different fish require different bait and equipment, different people need different approaches. The Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce is presenting a half-day seminar from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Aug. 20, at The Chamber, 415 Lisbon St., Lewiston.

Presenting will be Nancy Bocskor, a fundraising expert and author of “Go Fish: How to Catch (and Keep) Contributors.” She will explain relationship fundraising, and how to help each donor move from concern to passion to cash.

The seminar provides practical advice about how to ask for money, organize finance committees, host profitable events, write successful fundraising letters and other best practices for nonprofit fundraisers.

Cost for this seminar is $149 for Chamber members, $249 for nonmembers.

For more information or to register, call The Chamber at 207-783-2249 or go to www.androscoggincounty.com.
