LEWISTON — Chip Morrison is back in business.
Morrison, who retired as the longtime head of the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce this spring, is a new business development officer for Androscoggin Bank.
Morrison said he liked that the part-time role will have him working with businesses and municipalities, tapping into his other roots. He’s also the former Auburn city manager.
“That kinds of melds a piece of my background that’s been dormant for a while,” he said. “The government that’s closest to the people, which is municipal, does the best job, and helping them do their job is what the bank does as just one little piece.”
He’ll be based in Lewiston but cover the state from Augusta to the south, working on everything from loans to cash management.
In a news release, Paul Andersen, president and CEO of Androscoggin Bank, said he was excited to see Morrison join the Androscoggin team.
“His personal and professional mission to help area businesses and organizations prosper is a perfect fit,” Andersen said.
The new position starts in two weeks. Morrison is just wrapping up his role as the temporary head of the state’s Make-A-Wish chapter and is still working on his idea for a company that specializes in supplying temporary executives for nonprofits.
“I’ll never do just one thing anymore,” he said.
