PERU — The Board of Selectmen voted 5-0 Monday evening to put the town’s 1999 dump truck out to bid until Sept. 14.
Road Commissioner Joe Roach told the board that he got the town’s 1999 Ford F-550 dump truck with a sander appraised and learned that its trade-in value was $7,500, though it was retailing for “around $10,000.”
“That seems a little high,” Board of Selectmen Chairman Larry Snowman said.
“It is,” Roach replied. “I figured we could put the truck out to bid with $7,500 as the minimum requirement, unless you have any objections.”
Snowman asked if a month would be long enough for bids to come in for the dump truck.
Selectman Jim Pulsifer said that anything over three weeks should be enough time to attract bidders.
Roach said that the truck is being sold “as-is” and “where is,” and that the truck can be viewed during daylight hours at the Peru Road Department Garage at 85 Peru Center Road.
Any questions about the truck can be directed to Roach at 207-562-4657.
In other business, the Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to approve building permits for the following residents:
* Ryan Parent of Greenwoods Road to build a new home.
* Paul and Sandy Parent of Greenwoods Road to build a new home and garage.
* Jimmy Wolfe of 30 Peru Center Road to build a 40-foot storage container.
