RUMFORD — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Maxine E. Gilbert was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parish of the Holy Savior. The Rev. Greg Dube was the celebrant, Bernard Poirier was the altar server and Mark Belanger was the organist.

Prior to the Mass, granddaughter Sara played the “Tennessee Waltz” on the violin. Opening hymn was “Be Not Afraid.” Offertory was “Amazing Grace,” played by Sara on the violin. Communion was “Eye Has Not Seen,” and the recessional was “Fly Like a Bird.”

The Old Testament was proclaimed by Deidre Gilbert Mooney, and The New Testament was proclaimed by Abigail Gilbert. Prayer of The Faithful was read by Lauren Gilbert. Offertory gifts were presented by Lexi Holman and Trent Holman and personal reflections were shared by Amy Gilbert. A poem entitled “ A Mother’s Love” was read by Donna Gilbert.

Interment was in St. John Cemetery. Pallbearers were Peter Gilbert, Derrick Gilbert, David Gilbert, Alex Gilbert, Michael Gilbert and Patrick Mooney.

A reception served by the Daughters of Isabella and catered by S.G. Thibault Funeral Home was held in the parish hall.

Services were under the care and guidance of S.G. Thibault Funeral Home, Cremation & Monument Services, 250 Penobscot St., Rumford.
