Final craft/yard sale of summer

WATERFORD — The final craft and yard sale of the summer, sponsored by the Waterford Grange, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 28 and 29.

There will be handcrafted knit, crocheted and sewn items with a large assortment of hand-knit hats and mittens for the coming cold weather. There will also be an  assortment of pocketbooks and bags of all types – for office, travel, sports, camping, school, shopping, as well as roller blades, books, toys, puzzles, dishes, decorations and small appliances.

 Waterford Grange 479 is located on Route 35 next to the North Waterford Post Office. Proceeds will enable members to support charitable organizations and make needed repairs to the historic building. Members are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the purchase of the building.

Food distribution on Aug. 27

PARIS — The Families in Crisis Task Force will distribute free food to people in need until the food is gone from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.

The event will take place in the parking lot of the Food Pantry/Thrifty Gift Shop, 659 Park St., Route 26 three miles north of the rotary. Another date will be set if it rains.

Bean supper at Paris church

PARIS — The First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., South Paris, will hold a public bean supper Friday night, Aug. 28. Baked beans, hot dogs, salads, casseroles and desserts will be available. Proceeds benefit the Ladies Circle.

Thrifty Gift Shop holding $1 sale

PARIS — The Thrifty Gift Shop will hold a $1 sale on everything in the thrift store from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 28 and 29.

Volunteers are needed to help before and during the sale. Anyone who volunteers for a full day will receive a $10 gift certificate to use at the sale.

Lithuanian club planning for picnic

RUMFORD — The Lithuanian Heritage Club will have its monthly meeting at noon Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Sam’s Italian Shop, Route 2.

Members are busy preparing for the annual Lithuanian Heritage Picnic at Black Mountain of Maine on Saturday, Sept. 19.

Historical Society to meet

LOCKE MILLS — The Greenwood Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the building in Locke’s Mills.
 
Blaine Mills will present a program on the history of the Richardson Hollow area.
