Local NFB chapter cancels meeting

LEWISTON — The meeting of the National Federation of the Blind of Maine Lewiston/Auburn chapter meeting set for Saturday, Sept. 5, has been canceled.

The cancellation is due to the Labor Day long weekend.

Confirmation of the rescheduled date will be announced.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Aug. 31 were: first, Jan and Vern Arey; second, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; third, Cynthia and Bill Clifford; fourth, Marta Clements and Georgette Jewell.

Winners on Sept. 1 were: first, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau; second, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; third, Paul Sherman and Mike True; fourth, Nancy Farmer and David Lock; first in B: Sue Kaluzynski and Kathy Burden; second, Connie and Ron Reynolds.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcomed.

Masons to host bean supper

DURHAM — The Masonic Lodge, 663 Royalsborough Road, will host a bean supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.

On the menu are baked beans, chop suey, hot dogs, potato salad, coleslaw, bread, pickles and homemade pies.

The cost for adults is $7.50 and for children ages 5 to 12 is $3. Children younger than 5 are admitted free.

Pownal church to host pasta supper

POWNAL — North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, will host a pasta supper to benefit the food pantry from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.

Chicken Alfredo with broccoli, spaghetti with meatballs, baked macaroni and cheese, salads, bread and beverages will be served. Homemade strawberry shortcake and chocolate cake will be served for dessert.

The cost for adults is $8, or $3 for children. Children younger than 4 will be admitted free.
