WATERFORD — An indoor yard sale will be held at the Wilkins House on Plummer Hill Road in Waterford. The sale will be from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 12, with many new items, including household items, crafts and books. All proceeds benefit the church and the Wilkins House.
Sumner bottle drive Sept. 12
SUMNER — The Sumner Scholarship Fund annual bottle drive will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.
Leave bagged returnable cans and bottles next to mailboxes for pick up by volunteers. Bottles may also be dropped off anytime at the Sumner Town Office.

Vaccinations, microchip implants offered
NORWAY — Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills will host a rabies and microchip clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Norway Fire Station.
Rabies vaccinations will be offered for a cost of $10, and microchip implants will be offered for a cost of $25.

Uptown Cruizahs to meet
OXFORD — The Uptown Cruizahs Car Club will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Tractor Supply on Route 26 for its end-of-season cruise-in.
DJ “Red Wing” will play music while club members will be busy providing food at reasonable prices. Attendees can take a chance on the 50/50 raffle and door prizes, and spend some time visiting with others displaying their antique, classic or customized vehicles.
Those who plan on attending should bring a chair. This event will be held weather permitting. Proceeds will benefit local charities.

Nesting doll painting program
GORHAM, N.H. — Traditional Russian artist and lecturer Marina Forbes will offer a workshop on the rich Russian folk tradition of Matryoshka (wooden nested doll) painting. The workshop is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Gorham Public Library, 35 Railroad St., Gorham, N.H. The program is open to adults, teens and families with children 6 years of age and up.
Participants will hear the story of the Matryoshka doll and will learn about her traditional Russian dress and customs. Traditional Russian painting techniques and floral and berry designs are also introduced. The goal is to produce a finished piece of Russian folk art on wood. Participants can work on 7-piece, 5-piece, 3-piece or 1-piece matryoshka sets. Throughout the workshop, students will be listening to traditional Russian music, and, during a brief break from the painting, there will be a demonstration of a few steps from a traditional Russian “matryoshka dance.”

Free community luncheon in Farmington
FARMINGTON — Old South First Congregational Church will serve its monthly free community luncheon at noon Saturday, Sept. 12.
The menu will include road pork loin, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and cake.

FARMINGTON — Trinity United Methodist Church will hold a baked bean and casserole supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12. Cost is $7 for adults, $3.50 for children over age 12, 12 and under free. Proceeds go to Salem Economic Ministry.

VFW hosting 9/11 fundraising ride
LEWISTON — Capt. Frank W. Hulett Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1603 has announced a Patriot Day Memorial Poker Run Saturday, Sept. 12, in honor of all victims of 9/11.
Registration will begin at 11 a.m. at the VFW Post, 588 Minot Ave., in Auburn. The ride will depart at 12:30 p.m. and will make stops at American Legion Post 150 in Mechanic Falls; American Legion Post 86 in Gray; American Legion Post 31 in Auburn; and American Legion Post 153 in New Auburn.
The event will end with the return to VFW Post 1603 for a pulled-pork dinner. Any and all vehicles are welcome to attend. The cost of the event is $20 and includes the ride, a poker hand and dinner.
The event is open to the public. All proceeds of this event will benefit local veteran programs.
