The Lewiston Department of Recreation is getting ready to find out what it has and what it needs. The department is drafting a request for proposals aimed at conducting an inventory of the city’s recreational and park facilities, an analysis of how well those facilities serve the community, and what the overall needs of the city are. Recreation Director Maggie Chisholm said the survey will look at city-owned land to assess the recreational facilities on it, as well as privately-owned concerns such as skating rinks, swimming pools, and similar facilities. It will focus not only on what is available, but also on the condition facilities are in, and the location and capacity of support systems such as parking.
