1935 – 2015

AUBURN — Muriel C. Leclair, 80, of Lewiston passed away Wednesday morning, Sept. 30, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born in Lisbon on June 22, 1935, a daughter of the late Oscar and Clara (Girard) Ouellette. She grew up in the Lisbon area and attended local schools there. On Oct. 1, 1960, she married Richard Leclair at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston and the two started a family together. For a short time, Muriel worked in various shoe shops in the Lewiston area, but was mostly a dedicated wife and mother, who took great pride in tending to the needs of her family.

She will always be remembered for her love of gardening, traveling, playing cards and spending quality time with her loving family.

She is survived by her husband of one day short of 55 years, Richard of Lewiston; her children, Denise Cyr and her husband, Joseph, of Lewiston, Monique LaChapelle and her husband, Ricky, of Lewiston, Diane Squirrell and her husband, Mark, of Miami, Fla., Doris Roberge of Auburn, Richard Leclair and his wife, Jessica, of Litchfield, Paul Leclair, Marcel Leclair and his wife, Eryn, and Daniel Leclair and his wife, Melissa, all of Lewiston. She also leaves behind her siblings, Alice Bisson and her husband, Joseph, of Topsham, Yvette Boisvert of Auburn, Gerard Ouellette of Poland, Leo Ouellette and his wife, Connie, of Lewiston, and Paul Ouellette and his wife, Alma, of Auburn; as well as 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
