Mystery photo for October 4, 2015

Last week’s mystery photo fooled many who incorrectly named several miniature golf courses in the central Maine area. However, there were others who gave detailed accounts of their experiences at the bandstand at Poland Spring Resort. In the foreground of the photo is a replica of it that sits in the middle of the miniature golf course across the street from the resort. In addition to the mini golf, the Arthur Fenn Park has a driving range that can be seen in the background of the photo, an ice cream parlor and a 9-hole disc golf course. According to the resort’s website: In 1895, the Ricker family opened a nine-hole golf course, one of the first in the state, after commissioning Arthur Fenn as its designer. Fenn, considered by some to be the first American-born professional golfer and course designer, stayed on for many years as the golf pro at the resort. Arthur Fenn Park is still open on weekends, according to their website: polandspringresort.com/range. In a random drawing, Maurice Gagne of Lewiston was chosen as the winner of a $10 Subway gift card.
