AUBURN — The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will offer “Supervising People: the Essential Skills for Leaders,” a five-part series to be held from 9 a.m.-noon on Thursdays, Oct. 22 to Nov. 19.

This 15-hour program is designed to help managers, supervisors and team leaders identify communication barriers, performance issues and how to address difficult employees. Topics include communication, performance coaching, supervision and team building.

The course is led by Marylin Newell, PhD, a longtime educator with extensive experience in academia. She holds a master’s degree in adult education from the University of Southern Maine and a Ph.D. in management and organization from Capella University. She is the founder and president of Maine Seminars, a professional development company that specializes in transformational coaching, counseling, and training.

This non-credit course is open to anyone interested in learning effective supervision techniques. Registration is open and ongoing but space is limited. The cost is $299 and includes all materials.
