Legion hosts public breakfast

AUBURN — The Alden M. Gayton American Legion Post No. 31 will host a public breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at 426 Washington St. N. 

The menu will include eggs, bacon sausage, homefries, hash, biscuits and gravy, toast, juice and coffee. Cost of the meal is $5.

Auburn Art Club meeting Nov. 2

AUBURN —The Auburn Art Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at the Park Avenue Methodist Church.

Joanne Bollinger will give a presentation on “Growing with WISE in Zambia.”

Women’s Initiatives that Strengthen and Empower, or WISE, has grown from a small group of Maine women who saw a need in the remote Zambian town of Kaoma to the present nongovernmental organization that helps women and children build sustainable lives in Zambia’s Western Province.

Bollinger will display baskets, many of which are unique to the area. She will give a PowerPoint presentation detailing WISE’s history, plus personal stories, including her involvement with WISE for the past three years.

Before retirement, she was a singer, voice and music teacher in several Maine towns, including Camden, Woolwich and Brunswick.

Widows Fellowship to meet

LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship will meet Monday, Nov. 2.

The group meets at the Lisbon United Methodist Church on School Street. The the gathering begins for fellowship at 11:30 a.m. followed by potluck lunch.

All interested widows in the area are invited to attend. The group meets the first Monday of each month, excluding holidays, when the group meets the second Monday.
