Congratulations to the staff, volunteers and community of the Lewiston Root Cellar as they recently celebrated a blessed year. It was only about two years ago that the LRC was targeted to close due to considerable funding issues. Two years later we are in awe of the love God has for this local community and how the LRC not only survives but now thrives. The event was a chance to celebrate and give praise to God.
The LRC seeks to engage-equip-empower our neighbors. LRC follows the teachings of Jesus; in particular, we follow the command to love our neighbors as ourselves. Our prayer for Lewiston is that is becomes transformed by that love of Jesus.
At the LRC, programs and activities such as ESL, Youth Diversion for at risk children and a variety of after-school programs engage our neighbors, equip them and empower them. In the short time LRC has existed, the results are dramatic.
But there is so much more to be done. The community can get involved in many ways, including volunteering, financially supporting LRC and by praying for this community.
