1924 – 2015

LEWISTON — Betty A. Lane, 91, of Auburn, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at d’Youville Pavillion in Lewiston.

She was born in Auburn on May 9, 1924, the daughter of Carl and Hazel Keniston Rowe. She attended local schools and graduated with the Class of 1943 from Edward Little High School. She married her husband, Richard K. Lane, on Sept. 6, 1946, and together they raised their family. Betty worked at Peck’s until they closed.

Betty loved to take trips to Florida every year during spring training to watch baseball. When she was home, she loved to spend time out at restaurants and had breakfast out every morning. She was especially fond of watching cooking and traveling shows on TV when she wasn’t busy working on her crossword puzzles. When she was able, she would always host family gatherings, and later arranged them at others’ homes.

She is survived by her two children, Richard Lane of Auburn and Mary and her husband, Bert Roberge, of Auburn; a sister, Margaret Sterling of South Portland; three grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband, Chris Whitford, Gregory and his wife, Cherie Roberge, and step daughter, Monique, and David Roberge. Betty was also expecting a great-grandchild soon.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1998; and a brother, William Rowe.

The family would like to thank the staff at d’Youville Pavillion for their tremendous care of their mother during her short stay.
