LIVERMORE FALLS — Elaine R. LaPointe, 76, a lifelong resident of Livermore Falls, died Friday, Nov. 6, at her home.
She was born April 19, 1939, in Livermore Falls, the daughter of Willliam A. LaPointe and Yvette M. (Desjardins) LaPointe. Elaine was a 1956 graduate of Livermore Falls High School; she received her bachelor of science degree at Farmington Teachers’ College and her master’s from Thomas College. Elaine dedicated 45 years of her life to teaching. Her students were her pride and joy of living. Upon her retirement, a bench was presented in her honor for her 45 years of service; it sits at the entrance of the Livermore Elementary School, where she taught.
She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, a member of Maine Teachers Association, the National Teachers Association, and was a former Livermore Falls School Board member.
Elaine loved spending holidays and her free time going to Oqunquit. She enjoyed trying the different restaurants and just taking in the beauty and atmosphere of the area.
She is survived by her sister, Doris Brillant and husband, Paul, of Brunswick; her nephew and godson, William Brillant of Portland; her aunt, Jean Simoneau and her husband Paul of Livermore Falls; cousin, Jan Gill of Livermore; Godson, Eric Morin of Jay; her good friends, Donna Cook of Jay, Nancy Purrington of Livermore Falls, Nelda Bond of East Livermore, Linda Gramlich of Chesterville, Eileen Morin; and many other cousins and friends.
