FARMINGTON — Roderick Crosby American Legion Post 28 and Wal-Mart will sponsor a Veterans Day service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the parking area behind Wal-Mart and in the adjacent cemetery.
Farmington attorney and local historian Paul Mills is the guest speaker. State Sen. Thomas Saviello of Wilton will present veteran awards, and the rehabilitation work at Red Schoolhouse Cemetery will be dedicated.
Along with clearing brush and resetting stones, a new fence, flagpole and bench have been added.
Certificates of appreciation will be given out to some individuals and businesses that helped out, Charles Bennett said. Bennett helped with the cemetery restoration.
“It will be quite a celebration,” he said of the program.
The Legion Color Guard will participate and the Emblem Club will present a flag folding ceremony. A Wal-Mart employee will provide music.
In case of inclement weather, the service will take place inside Wal-Mart.
