MECHANIC FALLS — RSU 16 Adult Education announces upcoming enrichment classes.

Knitters’ Boot Camp: This introduction to knitting will teach participants to cast on, knit, purl, bind off and the importance of gauge by making a dishcloth. Then it will teach about yarn labels, yarn weight and needle size. Participants will need to bring DK or Worsted weight 100 percent cotton, hemp or bamboo yarn and the larger needle size indicated on the yarn label. Upon completion, participants may join the Knitters’ Night Out on Thursday evenings. The class will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Dec. 1, 8 and 15. The instructor will be Suzette Moulton. Registration is $18.

Ceramics: Participants will learn about ceramics as course instructor Rita Estes teaches her favorite drybrush technique during this session. The course runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Dec. 3 and 10. Registration is $10 in advance and $25 to Estes on the first night of class. 

RSU 16 Adult Education offers free college transition classes for Androscoggin County residents who are planning to enroll in college in the next 12 to 18 months. The program is designed participants prepare for, get accepted to and be successful in college. The College Transitions Program provides a comprehensive review of reading, writing and math in a college-style setting. Both face-to-face and online interaction will be included — in the true spirit of current college trends. College application and financial aid processes will also be addressed. Classes will begin in late January.

Career planning, college preparation, computer classes, diploma classes and HiSET testing are also available.
