SUMNER — Pleasant Pond Cemetery Association will remove all flowers on Sunday, Nov. 15.

New Portland to host community storytelling

NEW PORTLAND — New Portland Community Library, 899 River Road, will host community storytelling at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15.

Those attending can present one five-minute story. There are no rules, but storytellers are reminded that the event is geared toward all ages.

Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and home-baked treats will be served.

Rumford Elementary School hosting Family Literacy Night

RUMFORD — Rumford Elementary School Family Literacy Night will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16.

Children’s author and illustrator Josh Alves, creator of Lilly Bristol, Dinosaur Wrangler and the international award-winning interactive book “Surprise,” will give a presentation.

Alves holds a visual communications certificate from the Katherine
Gibbs School in Providence, R.I., where he learned about video editing, 3D animation, typography, photography, print design and web design.

The library will sponsor a book fair before and after Alves’ presentation. The book fair will open at 5 p.m.

Franklin County Retired Educators hosting final fall meeting

FARMINGTON — The final fall meeting of the Franklin County Retired Educators will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at the Chef’s Table on the Mt. Blue Campus.

Attendees should drive to the back of the large parking lot and enter through Door No. 15.

The culinary arts students will prepare and serve lunch before the business meeting and presentations by Stuart Durrell of Horace Mann and John Kosinich of the Maine Education Association.

Retired educators who wish to attend and are not on a calling list should call 207-645-4437 to make a reservation for lunch.

Historical Society to meet

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Historical Society held its annual Hunter and Family Breakfast on Oct. 31, raffling the musket loading rifle to Warren Emery.

The society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, for its regular potluck supper followed by a short business meeting at 7.

Stephens High Class of 1960 luncheon

MEXICO — Stephens High School Class of 1950 will meet for its monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at The Covered Wagon.

Arts, crafts association to meet

FARMINGTON — Members of the Franklin County Arts and Crafts Association will meet Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the University of Maine at Farmington North Dining Hall to make final plans for the annual FCACA Christmas crafts fair in December.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. for fair registration, followed by a business session at 7 p.m.

A traditional holiday event for more than 40 years, the fair this year will be held  from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the UMF Olsen Student Center.

Community lunch and stuff swap

OTISFIELD — Otisfield will host a free community lunch and stuff swap from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Community Hall on Route 121.

Turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, carrots, peas, squash, cranberry sauce, jellied salad, assorted pies, cider, tea and coffee will be served.

Those attending should bring an item they no longer want but believe someone else may want for the stuff swap.

The event is free, but donations will be accepted.
