LEWISTON — Mu, the local chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International, hosted a reception honoring esteemed member, Barbara Randall, as she celebrated her 90th birthday.

Randall has been a member of Mu since 1961, chairing many committees and serving as president in 1966 through 1968. She also served on several state committees and was president of Maine’s Alpha Psi State in 1969 through 1971. Randall was recognized with the Alpha Psi State Achievement Award in 2012.

Guests included members of many of the organizations Randall either founded or served in. Randall is a past president of the Androscoggin Retired Teachers Association. She is a founder of USM/L-A’s Senior College and Auburn’s Women’s Literary Union. She served on the Boards of Seniors Plus and the United Way, and performed for Auburn Library’s Reader’s Theater. She graduated from Bates College and returned to serve as Dean of Women in the late 60s. She taught English at Edward Little High School and was the girls’ ski coach. She is a published poet, an artist and a world traveler. Randall is a mentor to many and an inspiration to all.
