According to media reports, Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz plans on retiring after the 2016 baseball season.

Ortiz, who will turn 40 Wednesday, has helped the Red Sox win three World Series championships. He hit 503 home runs, which ranks 27th among the Major Leagues’ all-time leaders.
