Paris Cape Historical Society events

PARIS — The Paris Cape Historical Society has announced its events for the holiday season.

The museum will hold its last open house of the season from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at 77 High St. The museum will be open by appointment until spring when open house will resume on the first Thursday of May 2016.

The Society will hold its Christmas party at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the home of Cynthia Immonen, 43 Mountain View Drive. This is a potluck supper with entertainment and the singing of Christmas carols after supper. Reservations are required.

The first meeting of 2016 is set for April 21.

Paris to pray for Paris

PARIS — Deering Memorial United Methodist Church will host a community “Paris Prays for Paris Peace Vigil” at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20.

The event will mark one week to about the hour that the attacks occurred in Paris, France. All are invited to come and show support for peace for Paris, the world and community.

Candles will be lit, songs will be sung, prayers will be said in an informal communal way inviting others to participate as they feel called. Pianist Phil House will provide accompaniment for the evening.

Amvets to host ham supper

PARIS — Amvets Post No. 777 will host a public ham supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the VFW Hall Post No. 9787 on lower Main St.

Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and younger.

Masons host Thanksgiving dinner

FARMINGTON — A free traditional Thanksgiving dinner sponsored by the Valley of Augusta Scottish Rite Masons will be held at noon Thursday, Nov. 26, at the Mount Blue High School.

Reservations are required by Monday, Nov. 23. Meals are available to for eat-in at the food court, for take-out and for delivery.

Daughters plan Christmas party

JAY — The Daughters of Isabella 677 from St. Rose of Lima held their November business on Wednesday, Nov. 11. A Sympathy card was sent to Marquerite Slovak and a Get Well soon card was sent to Mariette Castonguay.

The annual Christmas party will be Wednesday, Dec. 3, at LaFleure’s.

The cost will be $20 per person and will include appetizers, salad, meal, dessert, coffee tea, and tip. The meal, chicken picada, baked haddock or pork tenderloin, can be chosen the night of the party.

Those who have secret sisters should bring their gifts.

Eagles accepting scholarship applications

RUMFORD — The Rumford Eagles No. 1248 is again offering two $500. scholarships to two students from Mountain Valley, Dirigo and Telstar high schools.

Applications are available at the guidance office at each school.
