PORTLAND — Responding generously to the needs of many in the community not as fortunate, volunteers will gather together to provide free Thanksgiving dinners in praise of the wonderful gifts that God has bestowed.
Good Shepherd Parish will host its 17th annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.on Thursday, Nov. 26, in the hall at Most Holy Trinity Church, located on 271 Main St. in Saco. All members of the community are invited to attend. All the fixings for a turkey dinner, including dessert and beverages, will be available for free. Takeout and delivery are available on Thanksgiving Day, but orders must be placed in advance by contacting the parish office at 207-282-3321. Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish invites all community members who may otherwise be alone for the holiday to attend the Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 26, at noon in the hall at St. Catherine of Sienna Church on 32 Paris St. in Norway. The free dinner will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables and homemade pies for dessert. The event, which began decades ago, was the idea of a St. Catherine of Sienna parishioner who knew several people planning to spend Thanksgiving alone.
