RUMFORD — The Rumford Association for the Advancement of the Performing Arts is excited to present this year’s holiday concert. Tying into the successful theme of last year’s show, entitled “Christmas is for Children,” this year’s theme is “Christmas is for Family,” encompassing the idea that family traditions and family gatherings make the holidays special and memorable.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
The RAAPA Christmas concert, a more than 40-year musical tradition for the River Valley area, will be performed at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5 and at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 6 The show is presented in two acts, including the telling of the Nativity story and a visit by Santa Claus himself!
The RAAPA chorus, under the direction of Bob Bohren, will delight audiences with some holiday favorites such as, “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting)”, “Happy Holiday/White Christmas Medley” and “Sleigh Ride,” along with some new arrangements such as the very moving “A Grown-up Christmas List” and a lively, light-hearted charmer called “Christmas in about 3 Minutes” which is sure to get your heads bopping and toes tapping. A variety of soloists from the RAAPA chorus will be featured throughout the show.
There will be a few surprise “guest” performances this year, bringing a “variety show” feel to the concert.
Tickets can be purchased at Bartash’s in Rumford, Larson’s Electric in Mexico and the Log Cabin in Dixfield, as well as from any RAAPA member.
