JAY — Police are looking for the driver of a white flatbed truck they say collided with a car Tuesday afternoon at Macomber Hill and Lomie Rivers roads and fled the scene. The accident sent a mother and young daughter to a hospital.

The utility truck, which will have front right quarter damage, was last seen heading down Macomber Hill Road in North Jay toward Route 4 after the 5:14 p.m. accident, Detective Michael Mejia said Wednesday.

Stephanie MacDonald, 28, of Livermore Falls was driving on Macomber Hill Road toward Route 133 and the truck was on Lomie Rivers Road.

There is a yield sign at the end of Lomie Rivers Road, Mejia said.

MacDonald complained of neck and back pain, he said.

MacDonald and her 2-year-old daughter, Grace, were taken by a NorthStar ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. Both were treated and released, MacDonald said Wednesday at the Police Station. Her daughter was evaluated at the hospital, she said. The anchor latch behind her daughter’s car seat was bent in the crash, she said.

The driver of the truck is believed to be a heavy-set male who was wearing a Carhartt-style jacket, according to witnesses, Mejia said.

Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier alerted police agencies about the truck.

Jay firefighters assisted at the scene.

Anyone who may have seen something pertaining to the accident or has information that may help police locate the driver, are asked to call the Jay Police Department at 207-897-6766.
