A seven-year-old Lewiston boy is recovering from a wound caused by a BB shot from an air gun. While at play with his brother and another boy, he was shot in the lower jaw, the shot penetrating the flesh. The boy who fired the shot is unknown. The matter has been reported to the police. The boy who fired the shot was about eleven years of age. He was exhibiting his new air rifle, whereupon one of the boys said, “Your gun isn’t worth a five cents.” The boy resented this statement. “It ain’t, eh!” he said, and added, “I’ll show you.” Pointing it at the young boy, he pulled the trigger and the shot entered the lower jaw.

Amid tearful farewells and the threat of war, nearly 100 reservists of the 1125th U.S. Army Hospital said goodbye to their loved ones Friday and headed for active duty. “The separation is tearing us apart, but we’re supportive of the mission. It’s something that we always knew was possible,” said Lesley Coburn of Auburn, whose husband Capt. Royce Coburn left Friday morning from the U.S. Army Reserve Center on Minot Avenue. Dozens of families and friends of soldiers showed up at the Reserve Center, some with flowers and most with yellow ribbons as they saw their loved ones off for what could be at least six months.
