1919 – 2016

AUBURN — Arlene W. MacKenzie, 96, of Route 106, North Leeds, died on Wednesday, Jan. 13,  at the Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born in Strong on April 2, 1919, the daughter of Jesse and Susie (Collins) Waugh.

Arlene attended Farmington-area schools and had worked for Forster Manufacturing in Strong. She had also worked for the Town Farm in Farmington for a few years, operated the Cash Market in Wayne and later worked as a nurse’s aide at the Augusta Mental Health Institute.

Arlene was also a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, growing vegetables and doing her own canning, camping, fishing, ice-fishing and snowmobiling. Most of all she enjoyed the time she spent with her family and her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Lee Moody and his partner, Gay Reeve, of Farmington and Darrel Moody and his wife, Ann, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two daughters, Nora Frey and her husband, Norman, of St. Lewis, Mo., and Victoria Barker and her husband, David, of Leeds. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Hubert Moody; and her second husband, Duncan MacKenzie.
