FARMINGTON — Mt. Blue Adult & Community Ed is offering 80 classes covering many areas of interest this winter.

Some classes being offered include:

Dental Assisting: The 15-week course is designed to introduce students to various aspects of dental assisting, including dental pathology, charting, assisting the dentist during procedures, instrumentation, dental terminology, sterilizing of instruments, infection control and patient care.

Using Tapping for Change: Tapping is a proven way to eliminate obstacles and build enthusiasm. This course will teach what it is and how to apply it to life.

Clay Class: Participants will learn clay hand-building and decorating techniques. This class is for beginners or intermediates.

Performing Arts: This course will teach about preparation for any performance experience, including public speaking, musical theater, acting, singing or band production. Classes are performance-based with emphasis on full physical stamina and control as well as breathing exercise, shaping sounds and listening techniques.

Poetry Journaling: Participants will learn to use art and writing together to express and record thoughts and preserving memories.

Basic Sewing Machine Class: This class will teach participants to “drive” a sewing machine and step-by-step basics of cutting, pinning and sewing straight seams. Sharpen skills for the experienced sewers or teach new skills for beginners. This is a hands-on class.

Boat Handling: This class will will cover how to handle a power or sail boat under power, close quarter maneuvering, docking with currents and docking with winds.

Quinzhee: A quinzhee is a snowcave made by hollowing out a pile of serried snow. This course will teach how to safely pile snow and carve a shelter.
