TURNER — SAD 52 Adult & Community Education, 486 Turner Center Road, has announced classes for March 1 through 12.
Substitute Training, Tuesday, March 1: Learn about school expectations, teacher’s lesson plans and classroom management. The course is one step in the sub teacher application process for the district. A high school diploma is required, college degree preferred. Registration is required.
Chair Caning, Saturdays, March 5, 12: Bring a chair to class and learn the nearly lost art of traditional seven-step method of chair seat weaving. All tools required will be available. Chairs need predrilled holes around the perimeter of the seat and they must be in good condition (not in need of re-gluing or refinishing). Students need to consult with the instructor prior to class to assess the chair.
Geometric Origami, Saturday, March 5: Discover how to fold paper into forms such as cubes, triangles and octahedrons. Origami is a method for developing skills such as cooperative learning, cognitive development, math sequencing and self-esteem.
Beyond the Point & Shoot Camera, beginning Monday, March 7: Explore the basic and advanced controls of a digital reflex camera. Camera modes and PASM will be covered. Learn about the shooting menu, the importance of histogram and white balance. Bring digital DSLR camera to class.
Alcohol Ink, Tuesday, March 8: Get creative with bright, beautiful, vibrant alcohol inks. Learn new technique presented in the experimental workshop.
Get Organized for Your Business, Tuesday, March 8: Learn the basics of getting a business organized and how to overcome hurdles that stand in the way.
Vinyasa Yoga Flow, starting Wednesday, March 9: This all-levels class incorporates the elements of Tai Chi and Yoga. Bring a water bottle, yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing.
Sea Glass Necklace, Wednesday, March 9: Discover the secrets to drilling glass, stones and shells. Add colorful beads and spirals using easy wire-wrapped loop techniques to create unique jewelry. Use sea glass, beach stones and shells provided or bring favorites.
ATV Safety, Saturday, March 12: Learn how to properly operate an ATV. Laws, responsibilities and personal safety will also be covered. Passing a final exam is required. Students under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
