PARIS — The Anderson Staples Post 112, American Legion, will sponsor a benefits information seminar for veterans on March 5.

Topics of discussion will include earned federal and state benefits, disability compensation issues, health care and legal issues, survivor benefits, vocational rehabilitation and employment.

The seminar is set from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 5, in the forum at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, 256 Main St.

Representatives from the Maine Bureau of Veteran Services, the Veterans Health Administration, the Veterans Benefits Administration, the Lewiston Veterans Center, the Women’s Veterans Program Manager, the Department of Labor and the American Legion will be on hand to discuss and answer questions and concerns.

“Twenty-Two million Americans are military veterans who, through their service and sacrifices, are entitled to benefits, yet too many veterans do not know what benefits they are entitled to or whom to call,” said Rick Nugent Post Service Officer of the Oxford American Legion Post.

“Unfortunately many veterans rely on misinformation from their friends or friends of friends. Through ongoing outreach programs such as this seminar, we are getting the correct information to our veterans and getting them the services and benefits they deserve,” Nugent said.

A meet and greet scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with program and service representatives. This event is sponsored by Anderson Staples Post 112, American Legion, of Oxford ME.
