1962 – 2016

LEWISTON — Joey D. Smith, 53, of Woodland Street, Mexico, passed away on Sunday, March 6, at Central Maine Medical Center from complications after beating cancer, with his son and father at his side.

He was born in Rumford on May 10, 1962, a son of Clarence D. and Mary E. (Bickford) Smith.

Joey was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School. He was employed for many years at NewPage as a licensed boiler operator and heavy equipment operator. Joey did auto detailing for many years in Mexico.

He enjoyed building model cars, watching wrestling and was an avid race car fan. Joey loved doing glass etchings and charcoal drawings.

Surviving are his father, Clarence D. Smith of Mexico; a son, Jamie J. Smith and companion, Kayla Drapeau, of Mexico; a brother, Timothy Smith and wife, Carol, of Mexico; an aunt, Brenda DiConzo and husband, Dennis, of Rumford; three grandchildren, Josh Smith and wife, Mary, of Rumford, Janelle Smith and companion, Joe Hardy, of Mexico, and Cody Smith of Mexico; and his beloved dog, Riley.

He was predeceased by his mother, Mary.
