WILTON — Western Maine Play Museum announces several activities for the spring.

It will hold a sneak preview of the exhibit, A Dark Room Black Light Adventure, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, in the Wilton Free Public Library children’s room.

Families are invited to explore how “black” (ultraviolet) lighting can change the appearance of many everyday articles. Children will also be invited to complete a 6-foot glow-in-the-dark outer space mural, which will be displayed in the library after the event.

The museum has received a $2,000 grant from the Farmington Rotary Club to buy furniture for the Train Room. Naming rights to the Train Room were purchased by the Shibles-Colley family.

Steve Mitchell and his students from Maine School of Masonry will start constructing the brick courtyard this spring. Over 90 bricks, each engraved with a personal message, were sold to area individuals and businesses. The museum realized over $12,000 from the sales.

Reconstruction of the exterior of the building will begin as soon as the area around the museum is safe for working. Josh Wojcik of Upright Frameworks volunteered at the beginning of museum planning sessions to do the work at cost.
