I read in the Sun Journal (March 11) how the body or Trueman Moore was recovered from a lake in Maine. He had been walking with three friends but not one of them had the courage to grab him by the arm and take him away from the edge of the lake. It does not matter what age a man is, he had his ears closed and wouldn’t listen. So now, those friends will remember their friend and perhaps think about what they could have done to prevent the tragedy.

The lack of caring was also evident in another story (Sun Journal, March 9) about how a driver hit a young boy and left him lying in the road. Other cars just drove around the boy, who was hurt very badly. Only much later did someone stop and try to help, but it was too late.

Perhaps that driver thought he got away with it, but the lord in Heaven saw it and put a mark on that driver’s forehead.

So much violence here in this great land, so the war comes here — not from outside, but from within, in the same way Rome was destroyed.

When the fear of God in men’s hearts is gone, God’s hand is also withdrawn.
