Legion blood drive today

JAY — George Bunten Post 10, American Legion, is sponsoring a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Main Street.

Warming luncheon March 24

HARTFORD — The Warming Luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the Hartford Town Hall.

The free meal will include soup, a sandwich, a drink and a dessert, and games will be played.

300 eggs hiding in Farmington

FARMINGTON — Farmington Recreation Department will host an Easter egg hunt Easter morning Sunday, March 27. 

More than 300 eggs, including a golden egg that is the key to a secret prize, can be found at a secret drop off point. The location of the point will be revealed to the public after 7 a.m. on the Department’s Facebook page. 

The hunt will be open all day rain or shine, and the maximum number of eggs per child to collect is 10.

Commandery Easter service March 27

WILTON — Pilgrim Commandery No. 19 Knights Templar will hold its annual Easter service and breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, March 27, at the Farmington/Wilton Masonic Hall on the Bryant Road.

All Sir Knights and Master Masons are invited to attend along with their sons and grandsons. Donations will be accepted for the breakfast.

Siberian Irises at McLaughlin Garden

PARIS — “A Brief History of Siberian Irises” will be Jeff Dunlop’s topic Wednesday, March 30, at the McLaughlin Garden. He will also explain how to grow Siberian irises.

Dunlop is an iris hybridizer from Windham. He is a member of the Maine Iris Society and was in the Society with Siberian iris pioneer Currier McEwen as well as with Bernard McLaughlin.

Tea will be served at 3:30 p.m. with the lecture scheduled at 4 p.m. It will be held upstairs in the historic Tribou home at 97 Main St. Both tea and the lecture are free and open to the public, although donations will be requested for the preservation of the buildings and garden. The garden’s gift shop will be open.

The final lecture of the season will be “Yardscaping for a Healthy Maine” by Gary Fish on April 6.

Cookbook discussion at Norway Library

NORWAY — Norway Memorial Library will host a cookbook discussion from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 31.

This time the library will be using recipes from “The Skinnytaste Cookbook: Light on Calories, Big on Flavor” by Gina Homolka. Participants must make a dish from Homolka’s book and bring it to share. Discussion will be about the book and its recipes.

Registration is required. Attendees may bring containers to take home samples.
