PARIS — A Norway man has been sentenced to three years in prison for violating probation by assaulting his girlfriend after she refused to give him a ride home from a store.

Wayne Scott Brown, 60, of  Hayes Road, appeared before Judge Marie Woodman in Oxford County Unified Court on Feb. 29.

In November 2012, Brown pleaded guilty to burglary and was given a six-year suspended sentence and three years of probation, according to court records.

In November 2014, he was accused of forcing his way into his girlfriend’s home, assaulting her and choking her because she refused to give him a ride home from a store. He was also accused of preventing her from calling for help, court records state.

Police found him the next day at his camp on Ashton Road and arrested him on charges of aggravated assault, domestic violence assault, illegal possession of a firearm and obstructing the reporting of a crime, according to court records.

Based on that police report, Brown’s probation officer, Michael Downs, filed a motion for probation revocation on Dec. 3, 2014.

Brown appeared in court Feb. 29, admitted to violating probation and was sentenced.
