1941 – 2016

AUBURN — Alton Kendel Howard, 74, of Hartford passed away on Wednesday, April 6, at the Hospice House.

He was born in Bethel on April 12, 1941, to Elmer Joseph and Illonia Grace (Fish) Howard

He enjoyed watching the news and sharing the weather with everyone, Western movies, golf, riding his tractor, doing yard work and spending time with his family. He served in the U.S. Army for 4 years and then spent most of his working years as an auto mechanic.

Alton is survived by his companion of 38 years, Melody Joyce Walton; three sons, Patrick Howard and his wife, Donna, Ricky Howard and his wife, Heather, Benjamin Howard and his girlfriend, Samantha; two daughters, Stacy Cambridge and her husband, Jay, Priscilla Hebert and her husband, Maurice; one sister, Sally Davis of Lewiston; brothers, Terry of Mechanic Falls, Norman of Bethel, George of Rumford; 10 grandchildren, Corey, Rebecca, Skylar, Zachary, Ricky Jr., Marie, Mykayla, Kathryn, Spencer and Hunter; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Elmer James, Benjamin, Danny, Gary and Peter; and sister, Virginia.

Alton was the most loving kind of person and would do anything to help any one out.
