HARRISON — Harrison Parks and Recreation is gearing up for another summer recreation day camp.
Dubbed an “educational recess,” children can learn life skills from trained and knowledgeable counselors, junior counselors and swim instructors in a safe and positive outdoor environment.
Fun, Friends & Fitness Summer Day Camp: Begins Monday, June 20, and run eight weeks. The program is for Harrison girls and boys entering grades one through seven. Nonresidents are welcome if space allows. The registration deadline is May 27, and the fee is $225 and $215 for each additional sibling. The cost includes day sports, games, swimming, a tie dye T-shirt, three-week session of swimming lessons, nutrition education program, library program, comprehensive arts and crafts program, canoe/kayak lessons and Hooked on Fishing. Trips are offered every Tuesday and can be paid for in advance once camp opens.
American Red Cross Learn to Swim: Thirty-minute sessions from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Monday, June 27, running six weeks. This program is for children ages six months and older. Lessons will also be offered on rainy days as age-appropriate videos will be shown in the swim building. Adult lessons will be offered during the week of July 5. The fee for one three-week session of swim lessons is $25 for residents of Harrison and $45 for visitors.
British Challenger Soccer Camp: Aug. 1 to 5 at RADR Recreation Complex. Four camps are offered: First Kicks for ages 3 to 5; Half Day for ages 6 to 8; Advanced Half Day for ages 9 to 14; and Full Day Camp for ages 9 to 14. Those who register online by June 17 will receive a free Challenger soccer jersey.
Both land and water programs will be closed on Monday, July 4.
