Blood drive at Lost Valley

AUBURN — The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, April 18, at Lost Valley Ski and Banquet Resort, 200 Lost Valley Road.

Walk-ins are welcome. The drive is open to the public.

Tack sale to benefit 4-H

LISBON FALLS — A two-day new and used tack sale will draw equestrians to Lisbon Falls from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday, April 23 and 24, at the MTM Center, 18 School St. 

There will be more than 40 vendors, raffles, door prizes and baked goods.

This is a fundraiser for the Pink Spurs 4-H group, which is based out of RiverView Farm.

Pickwicks to discuss ‘Nicholas Nickleby’

AUBURN — The Pickwick Club, Maine’s Charles Dickens discussion group, will meet from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at the Auburn Public Library.

The book up for discussion is Dickens’ “Nicholas Nickleby,” chapters 34 to 65.

AMVETS Post 777 ham supper

PARIS — AMVETS Post 777 will host a ham supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9787, 58 East Main St.

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and younger.

YPLAA hosting rafting trip

THE FORKS — As part of the YPLAA Adventure Series, Young Professionals of the Lewiston Auburn Area will host a whitewater rafting adventure on the Kennebec River on July 9.

Those 10 and older may participate for $96 per person. The adventure will include a snack and a drink on the river with a homemade meal and slideshow presentation after the trip.

Food pantry seeks donations

AUBURN — The High Street Food Pantry has ongoing needs for peanut butter, canned vegetables, soup, canned pasta, canned meats, canned fruit, dry cereal, baking items, soup, crackers and toilet paper.

Donations will help support locals by meeting their most basic needs.

Items may be dropped off at the Auburn United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave.

WLU children’s tea in May

AUBURN — The Woman’s Literary Union has announced that it will host this year’s children’s tea in five sessions over two days, Saturday, May 14, and Sunday, May 15, at the Foss Mansion, 19 Elm St.

The theme for this year’s tea will be Peter Pan. Girls and boys will be entertained by costumed actors and actresses who tell about Peter’s adventures with Captain Hook, his pirate crew and Tiger Lily, the Indian princess. This is an opportunity for children to come dressed in their best clothes. Dolls or favorite snuggly stuffed friends are welcome.

Tea, lemonade and light snacks will be served while attendees browse the decorated mansion and shop in the doll boutique. The 2016 American Girl doll Lea will be the featured raffle at the event. All seating is by reservation. Tickets cost $11, and children younger than 2 are free with a paying adult.

Bridge club lists winners

LEWISTON —The Lewiston Bridge Club winners on April 11 were, first place, Cynthia and Bill Clifford; second, Paul Mitnik and Paul Sherman; and third, Hazel Glazier and Pete Cummings.

Winners on April 12 were, first, Jan and Vern Arey; second, Patricia Garcia and David Lock; and third, Paul Sherman and Mike True.

Games are played at 9 a.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcomed.

The Lewiston Armory will be closed on Patriot’s Day, Monday, April 18.
