FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners have proposed a $6.2 million spending package for 2016-17, an increase of approximately $400,000.

The proposal does not factor in anticipated revenues, which are still being reviewed.

The current budget is about $5.8 million.

For the first time since 2008, the jail budget and revenues need to be considered as part of the county budget. In 2008, the state consolidated county jails but relinquished that control back to counties last year.

The county’s Budget Advisory Committee plans to meet at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 2, at the county courthouse to begin its talks on the proposed budget.

John Calloway, a selectman from Avon, was re-elected chairman of the budget panel on Wednesday, Deputy Clerk/Deputy Treasurer Vickie Braley said Thursday.
